auticon wins BITKOM Innovators‘ Pitch

This year’s BITKOM Trendkongress Innovators‘ Pitch goes to Auticon as best Digital Life Innovation. The enterprise convinced the jury with its business model to exclusively employ people on the autism spectrum as IT consultants. The Innovators’ Pitch honours sustainable ideas and technologies.
Auticon secured first place at this years’ BITKOM Trendkongress Innovators‘ Pitch in the category B2B (business to business). High tech association BITKOM holds its trend convention annually. The Innovators’ Pitch competition offers up-and-coming enterprises the opportunity to introduce novel business models in the category Digital Life. The expert jury decided in favour of Auticon’s concept – to exclusively employ people on the autism spectrum as IT specialists and to offer their consulting services to client businesses.
‘We’re thrilled to have come first in the final‘, says Kurt Schöffer, Auticon’s managing director, following his successful pitch. Three finalists had three minutes to present their business models in front of the convention’s audience. The winners of the event were announced directly after the pitch. Next to their market potential and degree of innovation, the jury evaluated the contestant’s potential to engage the audience.
Being proud winner of the Innovators‘ Pitch, Auticon now looks forward to taking part in a boot camp with KPMG and Nokia.
‘This kind of support is extremely important for a developing enterprise like ours’ says Schöffer. ‘The distinction helps us enormously to make our unique concept known in the IT industry. Our clients have recognised the exceptional abilities of our employees in the field of quality assurance. But we want to create even more opportunities for people on the autism spectrum – we know how skilled they are.’
Auticon employs people with Asperger syndrome based on their specific strengths in pattern recognition, attention to detail and logic. These skills are particularly advantageous in the field of IT quality assurance. The enterprise ‘buffers’ any social difficulties members of staff may have by offering the support of specially trained in-house job coaches. ‘Our job coaches aren’t located on site with the clients, they stay in touch from our offices’, explains Schöffer. ‘This creates security for our consultants as well as our clients. That is how we ensure smooth project processes.’
